A transition house (during the sentence) is a facility where individuals who
are still serving a part of their sentence are placed as they approach their
(conditional) release. These facilities provide a structured environment
that includes supervision and support services to help the residents prepare
for reintegration into society. Residents may participate in counselling,
vocational training, and other activities outside the facility, so within
the community. These houses may be referred to by different terms such as
halfway house and may also offer the possibility for individuals to stay in
the house after their official release. However, concrete arrangements
depend on the facility, the target group and national rules of the
respective country.
